RULES & REGULATIONS
SUMOBOT CHALLENGE 2018 RULES & REGULATIONS
*Categories A, B, C, D, E & G - PARTICIPANTS ARE TO BRING OWN ROBOT.*
*Category F - Building & Coding on the spot with CHUMBAKA Kuching.
A Mini Robot will be provided*
A. MBot Sumo
Member per Team: Two
Robot per Match: Two
Round per Match: Three
Length per Round : 2 Minute
Robot Control: Fully Autonomous
Robot Size (Inch): Maximum 10” Length x 10” Width. No Height Restriction.
Robot Weight (Gm): Maximum 1000gm
Robot Materials: 3D Printed shields & pusher parts allowed
B. MBot - Last Stand.
Robots per round: 6
Round per Match: One
Length per Round: Till ONE robot remain inside the Ring.
C . EV3 Sumo (Lego Mindstorms EV3/NXT) RC & Open Teams.
Robots per Match: Two
Round per Match: Three
Length per round: 2 Minutes
Robot Control: Fully autonomous and self-powered.
No radio communication, IR remote control or wired control systems allowed while robot is running.
Robot Size: Maximum of 10” Length x 10” Width. NO HEIGHT RESTRICTION.
Robot Weight: Maximum of 1000gm
Robot Materials: *LEGO MINDSTORMS: Only LEGO brand allowed for robot construction.
D. EV3/NXT - Last Stand.
Robots per round: Seven
Round per Match: One Round, with last 3 winners to Final.
Length per round: Till ONE robot remain in the ring.
E: MBot Race
Member per Team: One
Robot per Match: Two
Round per Match: One Round x 3 Laps.
Length of Round: Till match complete.
Robot Control: Bluetooth/2.4GHz Control
Robot Size (Inch): Original MBot Robot.
Teams will be given 60 minutes to disassemble all 3D parts.
Race: 2 MBot robots will be racing using either Bluetooth (Mobile)/2.4Ghz Computer Keyboard Control.
F. CHUMBAKA Mini Robot Race.
Member per Team: 2, 1 Parent & 1 Child.
Robot: Chumbaka Mini Robot.
Workshop for construction & coding of robot on venue, will be conducted by trainers from Chumbaka Kuching.
Round per Match: One
Length of Round: Til match completed.
Robot Control: Fully autonomous & self-powered.
Robot Materials: 3D printed body with Arduino Sensors.
Race: To avoid obstacles and first to reach finishing line.
G. EV3/NXT Race
Member per Team: Two
Robot per Match: Two
Round per Match: 1 x 4 laps; Each member will race 2 laps.
Length of Round: Till match complete.
Robot Control: Mobile EV3 Remote Apps.
Robot Size : Riley EV3.
Teams will be given 90 minutes to disassemble their Sumobot and build a Riley Bot with given instruction sheet.
Race: 2 EV3 Riley Bots will be racing using Mobile Remote Control.
Prohibition and Restrictions of Robots
1. Prohibition of jamming devices.
2. Prohibition of parts that could break or damage the arena or other robots.
3. Prohibition of parts intended for damaging opponents or their operator (normal pushes and bangs should not be considered as intent to damage).
4. Prohibition of liquid-storing devices, powder, gas or other substances intended for throwing at the opponent.
5. Prohibition of flaming devices.
6. Prohibition of devices for throwing parts at opponents.
7. Prohibition of sticky substances aimed to improve traction.
8. Prohibition of devices to increase down force such as vacuum pumps/magnets.
9. No sharp edges.
Sumo Match
The match starts at the judge's command and continues until a team earns two Yuhkoh points. The judge determines the winner of the match.
All robots must be program to a requirement of 5 SECONDS DELAY.
Game Rules
1. Teams will be given a 1-minute service to prepare their robot before each round starts.
2. Each team will have 1 TIME-OUT chance for 5 minutes to repair their robot. During the time, changing of batteries is PROHIBITED as well as changing and/or adding of parts as well as programming. During then, the robot of the other team must stay in the ring.
3. For E: MBot Race, STEAM members will be given 60 minutes to disassemble all 3D parts, recharge or change of batteries, maintenance, programming & calibrating.
4. For G: RC & Open Teams will be given 90 minutes for disassembling & build Riley Robot, with given instruction, maintenance, programming and calibrating their robots.
Match Winner
1. When a robot flip over, does not move or spin around on the same spot for 5 seconds, the other robot gets the Yuhkoh point.
2. When a robot falls off outside the arena, the one remained in the ring wins a point. This is valid even if NO CONTACT is made between the robots.
3. When ALL THE WHEELS of a robot are not touching the ring surface, the other robot wins the point.
4. When a player touches any part of the ring or any robot during the match, the other robot wins a Yuhkoh point.
5. When all 3 matches completed and NO WINNER is found, an extended match may be fought, during which the team who receives the first Yuhkoh point shall win.
Rematch
1. If the 2 robots are entangled for 10 seconds.
2. Both the robots are moving, but they don't appear they will ever contact each other.
The Tournament
1. Teams will be randomly paired up as opponents using Random Generator.
2. The Sumo Game is played by elimination.
3. Robots shall be inspected and quarantined before the start of the games.
Sumo Ring
1. The Sumo Ring is made up of a circular white Canvas. The surface of the Sumo Ring is smooth and NOT RUBBERIZED.
2. The outer ring (border) is printed with black of 2cm thickness.
